Its continent is vast and the traditions diverse so it is difficult to generalize the ethnic religions of Africa. African religions are interpreted as basic because it intersects man with their physical environment. The rhythms of human life intersect with the seasons and the natural cycles of nature. Humanity is defined through the development of unique symbolic beliefs and practices. As Aime’ Cesaire, a Caribbean poet has pronounced, “Man is flesh of the world.”
